The short version: some links on Quotes on Travel are affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend.
Across the site, you will see this note near the top of any article that contains affiliate links:
Quotes on Travel may earn a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase some of these products. We only recommend products, books, and services we would happily put in our own travel bag.
This page is the longer version of that promise.
Why affiliate links exist here
Running this site costs money. Hosting, research tools, and the hours that go into reading the books and checking the products we write about. Affiliate commissions keep Quotes on Travel free to read, and they let us stay independent: no sponsored placements, no brands paying their way into an article.
The programs we belong to
Amazon Associates (Australia and the United States). As an Amazon Associate, Quotes on Travel earns from qualifying purchases. If you are reading from outside Australia, Amazon OneLink may send you to your local Amazon store so you can buy in your own currency.
That is the full list today. When we join a new program, we will add it here before the first link goes live.
What we promise
Every recommendation on this site is content-led. A product appears because it belongs in the article: the books an author actually wrote, the edition we would pick up ourselves, the travel gear that fits the journey being written about. Nothing on this site is pay-to-play, and no brand can buy a higher position in a list.
If a cheaper option is the better one, we say so. How we research, choose, and check what we publish is laid out in our Editorial Standards.
How the links work
Some affiliate links on the site are shortened, so you may see addresses that look like /recommends/product-name/. These work exactly like a normal link. The shortened format keeps links tidy and tells us which recommendations readers actually find useful.
Clicking an affiliate link never changes the price you pay. The retailer simply notes that we sent you, and pays us a small commission out of their side if you buy.
Material connection, plainly stated
For readers in Australia and the United States: the commissions described on this page are a material connection between Quotes on Travel and the retailers we link to. We disclose it in every article that carries affiliate links, above the first such link, in plain language. If we ever receive a product for free, or have any relationship with a brand beyond a standard affiliate link, we will say so clearly at the top of that specific article.
